THE SOUNDS OF MYMBÁ STREET

Sharp chirp
Martín Acuña Mendes

After a raid, the fallen bronze bell turned into a bird, a divine statement by Tupã. A sonic kilometre, the metallic and stabbing wind sound that refuses to leave.

It is not a picadillo
Martín Acuña Mendes

Old and tired, he dig in the dirt, and make the roots breathe. His wishes granted and both claws were hardened. Alone in his home, and with no grudge cause there is no judge.

Itaju jára
Martín Acuña Mendes

Rough back floating guard. A gold strange who starts this rage, a chase that makes the hunger a great hunter.

70's póra
Martín Acuña Mendes

As the 70’s began, the chaco ghost, clicking its tusks, showed the Ayoreo people, the greens for the extremes. Surviving a water scarce with a help of the oldest scars.

MYMBÁ STREET — BLIND BOX (MAGNETS)

Blind boxes are supposed to be a gamble you don't know what you're getting until it's already yours. This one works the other way around. We've been the blind ones, walking past these animals for years without really seeing them. So here, nothing is hidden. Pick exactly the face you want to keep close Guyra Campana, Tatú Carreta, Taguá, or Jakare Hû and let it be the one thing in the room you actually notice.

The void in each character's eye represents the lack of awareness surrounding endangered species and their struggle for survival. To help make a difference, 10% of proceeds from this series will be donated to support their preservation.

Because what we fail to see is often what needs us most.

REMEMBERED

Every figure carries a small void where its eyes should be. Not empty just unseen, until now.

Close-up of a gold coin with a lock symbol in the center.

To be remembered is to be kept a little longer. Mymbá Street is one small way of looking back.

A yellow emoji with a round face and a slightly open mouth, resembling a surprised or intrigued expression.

Mainu Yinoot is a Paraguayan-born visual artist and sculptor based in Helsinki. Her work is guided by a single idea: building a real, physical connection between people and the characters she creates, exploring the representation of living beings.

Each character blends the strange with the playful, inviting a sensory experience that goes beyond just looking. By playing with smooth, rough, and imperfect textures, the sculptures encourage a closer interaction between the public and the piece.

Mainu works across both digital and physical mediums to translate her ideas from 2D drawings into 3D forms. Her approach is based on five years of experience with paper clay and papier-mâché, exploring how an idea on paper becomes something tangible.

Through this hybrid approach, she transforms flat concepts into three-dimensional figures, aiming to bring people closer to the reality of endangered species and create a space for empathy, awareness, and reflection on what we often overlook.

Martín Acuña is a Paraguayan sound artist based in Helsinki, born in 1996. He grew up between Asunción and Mariano Roque Alonso, developing his musical foundation through early personal exploration and a curiosity about how different instruments, setups, and spaces alter the characteristics of a sound.
His practice is rooted in experience within the broadcast television industry, which involved audio setups, microphone placement, and musicalization. While balancing this craft with various jobs outside the art world, he consistently maintained autonomous music projects, exploring how everyday and natural environments influence composition.
Currently, his work focuses on composition and sound design for various media, bridging his technical background with creative studio production. His process relies on practical experimentation, manipulating physical hardware, synthesis, and effects to shape audio textures that complement visual forms. By combining a traditional musical background with contemporary production, he builds balanced sound environments driven by continuous experimentation.
